My excellent Hattie B's hot chicken lunch today (mind you not jacked up to so-called damn hot 🥵 like my dining buddies!!) at the newest location and a recent article in Nashville Business Journal inspired this post.
If you haven’t been to The Factory at Franklin in a while, you’re in for a treat. So many spots to dine, shop or simply hang out and enjoy the atmosphere. This historic complex constructed in 1929 was once a stove manufacturing plant. It closed down in the 1990s and the site was abandoned and fell into disrepair. However, in 2002, a group of local investors purchased the property and began the process of restoring it to its former glory. In 2021, Holladay Properties purchased the property for $56 million. And over the past couple years, more extensive transformation (check out the new tenants below).
One of the most interesting things about The Factory is the way that it has managed to preserve its historic character while still embracing modern amenities. The original brick walls, wooden beams, and concrete floors have all been carefully restored, giving the space a sense of authenticity and charm. At the same time, the main building has been outfitted with state-of-the-art lighting, sound, and video systems, making it an ideal venue for concerts, conferences, and other large-scale events. The theater, which hosts a variety of performances - from plays and musicals to concerts and comedy shows - is one of the highlights.
As the article below states, "The Factory at Franklin project is more than a makeover: With a history that dates back nearly 100 years, giving the property strong bonds with the local community, Arender and Wenzler have taken on the task of 'fulfilling the dream' of The Factory."
